Installing Xamarin

I’ve said thanks to Xamarin. Since this is my first encounter with Xamarin, I have no idea what I’m doing. Let’s start with downloading and installing it.

Either you buy it, get a free subscription like me, or downloading a free trial, you’ll download Xamarin from this page:

I download Mac and Windows version. Let’s start by installing the Mac version.

Mac installer comes with a file named XamarinInstaller.dmg. As regular Mac installer package, just open DMG file and this window will come up:

Double click on the large icon, this warning dialog will be prompted. Just click Open.

Then license agreement will be prompted. Spend time to read it (if you must), check I agree, then continue.

Next, you can choose which product to install. Why don’t choose both? Then, continue.

Next, you need to make sure the configuration of the installation. Here you can choose where to put Android SDK for Mac. Also make sure you have sufficient disk space. If all set, continue.

Then a prerequisites dialog will be displayed showing what required products will be installed before installing the Xamarin itself. Just hit continue.

More agreement. Accept and continue.

Now, installation is started. As the dialog says, just sit back and relax.

At this time of writing, I’m still waiting the installation to finish. Downloading 1.4 gigs will take some time with this lame internet connection in my country.

That’s for now. Will report back once the installation is completed.
